How to fundraise $1000

Fundraising is an integral part of the Shatterproof Challenge experience. Every participant has a personal fundraising webpage, email and social tools, and many other resources to raise money. In addition, you are assigned a personal fundraising coach to help you from start to finish. Individuals commit to raise a minimum of $1,000 to participate and 100% of the money raised by participants in 2016 will fund our current initatives.

Raise $1,500 or More for a GoPro Experience 

Individuals who raise $1,500 or more or teams with an average of $1,500 or more will receive the benefit of a full GoPro experience during your rappel. You will receive a personal memory card at check-in that records you rappelling from your helmet. Our staff will help you activate the camera at the start of your experience and give you back your memory card at the end. This unique upgrade is a great way to remember and share your Shatterproof Challenge rappelling experience.

Donation Questions

Are donations tax deductible and what is your tax ID?
Yes, all donations are tax deductible. Our EIN is #45-4619712. 

I received a donation in the form of a check or cash, what do I do with it?

  1. Enter the donation information in your Participant Center in the Fundraising Progress section. (Please note: your entered donation will not appear on your page's Honor Roll until it has been received and confirmed by Shatterproof.)
  2. Mail donations with the offline donation form to Shatterproof at 101 Merritt 7 Corporate Park, 1st Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851
    Please note: Donations can be mailed if your event is more than two weeks away and will be credited to your fundraising account within two weeks upon receipt. If your event is less than two weeks away, please bring donations with you if they are needed to reach your fundraising minimum.  

Who are checks made payable to? 
Please make checks payable to Shatterproof. Remember to include the participant’s name and Rappel in the memo section of the check to ensure that donations are credited to the account. If you are mailing a check, please include a completed offline donation form.

How do I get a receipt? 
All donations made online will receive an automated receipt upon the completion of the transaction. All donations received in the form of check and include the donor’s name and address will receive a receipt in the mail within 60 days.

Are the donations I solicit or give refundable if I am unable to rappel? 
All donations are non-refundable. Upon request, we will transfer your donations to another Shatterproof Challenge campaign in your name within one year.

My donor or I selected “Anonymous” when making a donation but now would like the donation to show. What do I do?
Contact us at support@shatterproof.org and we can make the adjustment for you.

I received a notification that a donation was made on my behalf, but I don’t see it on the Honor Roll. How can I fix this?
The donor selects whether or not they want their donation to be visible to the public in the Honor Roll. If the donor would like their contribution to appear, please have them contact support@shatterproof.org.


Fundraising Questions

Do I have to meet my fundraising minimum to be able to rappel?
Yes, every participant must reach their fundraising minimum by event day to be able to rappel. If you have not raised a minimum of $250 30 days before the event, you will be asked for a credit card to guarantee your spot.  

Can I transfer a donation that I received to another participant, or vice versa?
No, donations may not be moved from one participant to another.

How do I link to my personal fundraising page in letters, emails and social media?
You can find the URL for your personal fundraising page in your Participant Center. Login with your registration credentials. Go to the “Personal Page” tab of your Participant Center and you’ll find the URL. If you need further assistance, please contact support@shatterproof.org.
