How long does the Shatterproof Challenge Rappel experience take?
Your rappelling experience, from check-in to landing, is approximately 60-90 minutes. Many people enjoy participating in the event before and after their rappel experience as a spectator, and you are welcome to stay as much of the day as you would like.
How do I select my rappel time?
The rappel schedule will open approximately 45 days before the day before the day of the event. Oncethe schedule is open and you have raised 50% of your fundraising minimum, you will be able to selectyour rappel time. Teams will be given the opportunity to select blocks of time once your team raises50% of your fundraising minimum.
What happens during the 60-90 minutes of my rappel experience?
What should I wear when I rappel?
Sturdy, closed toe shoes are required and we find sneakers or hiking boots are best. You will be provided with helmets, harnesses and all other rappelling equipment needed. Since the harness goes around your legs, waist and shoulders, many participants prefer to wear long pants or athletic attire. We encourage you to show your support by wearing a team T-shirt or the Shatterproof Challenge Rappel T-shirt provided to you at the event. Please note all pockets must be empty and droppable/loose items must be put away before you are fitted into your gear.
What happens before and after my rappel experience?
The fun continues for the spectators and rappellers with music, cheering stations, a photo booth, information about Shatterproof, and the opportunity to share and learn why everyone is rappelling.
What is the age requirement?
There is no age requirement in order to rappel. Minors under the age of 18 will require their waiver to be signed by a parent or guardian at check-in.
What are the weight requirements?
Individuals weighing between 100 and 300 pounds can participate.
Do I need to train or prepare?
It is not necessary to train for the Shatterproof Challenge Rappel experience.
Who is managing the rappel experience?
We partner with Over the Edge, a rappelling company that adheres to strict National and State OSHA law with SPRAT and/or IRATA certified industrial rope access technicians.
Will I receive a T-shirt?
Yes! All participants will receive an event T-shirt.
What time should I arrive?
You may arrive as early as you wish and plan to check-in with our team promptly at your scheduled rappel time.
Is there a bag check area at the event?
Yes. There will be a free bag check area for personal items at check-in. We are happy to help store any droppable items (i.e. keys, phone) that are not permitted on the rappel. Shatterproof is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.
Can I use a GoPro camera during my rappel?
Yes, all of our helmets are equipped with a GoPro mount. You are responsible for bringing your own camera and memory card. Please note: we are not responsible for your camera or the operation of it during the event.
Can I bring my friends and family with me to the event?
Yes, please do! Friends and family make great spectators and cheerleaders and are encouraged to join you. We have music, a cheering station, and a photo booth for them to enjoy.
Is my registration fee refundable if I am unable to rappel?
